So, I, your kindly soon-to-be bride, have five days off of work (the beauty of working at a Catholic church during the Easter season), which means mucho time for blogging.
To get you up to speed, we're still looking for a reception venue. We've looked at one other place (the Route 66 Hotel - which I'll tell you aaaaaaall about in a mere few paragraphs) and are continuing our search for the perfect reception area. We may have already seen it, but I have an inkling the next two places we're looking at will definitely be in the running. Our goal is to have one chosen and reserved by the end of April - so here's hoping!
Okay, so I said we saw the Route 66 Hotel. What I didn't tell you is why I absolutely refuse to even deal with them anymore. Tell your friends. They shouldn't have to go through this bull either.
Wayne called them initially to speak to someone about touring their facility and getting some more information about prices, rooms, etc. after everybody and their mom was like "Yay Rt. 66! They're soooo fabulous and cheeeeap and cooooool...." I should have known then that there was going to be a problem when my brain automatically turned innocuous comments into verbal diarrhea memories.
So Wayne called, was told that everyone in their sales department was busy, leave a message, they'll call you back. So he left a message.
No one called back.
So he called again. Oh they're all busy, leave a message, they'll call you back. So he did.
No one called back.
So he called again. Oh they're all busy, leave a message, they'll call you back. So he did.
Someone called back, Wayne missed the call, called right back, oh they're busy, leave a message, they'll call you back. So he did.
They never called back.
Then I sent an e-mail, letting them know their customer service was absolutely terrible, there's no reason why we shouldn't already have a time set up to meet with them and I'm absolutely unhappy and don't really consider the Rt. 66 as a place I would like to have our reception.
So, when my mom hears of this she calls them. Immediately, they set up a time with her for us to all go see the place. Apparently if anyone ever needs anything, just have my mom make the phone call and she'll get it done.
But as you can imagine, I was fit to be tied, and to this day I still don't know why talking to my mom they willingly set her right up with a time for us to go see the facilities, yet Wayne couldn't even get the time of day with these shlubs.
Oh, and PS-they never even answered my e-mail.
So we go, and we're greeted by a mumbling sales guy who runs us around these perfectly fine ballrooms, lets us know that the pricing for food is weird and that they got my e-mail. And then he laughed about it. Laughed. About. It.
I wish, oh how I wish, it was appropriate to just call people douchebags and walk away.
This is what the place looked like:

It's pretty much like the Northfield (I think most ballrooms look the same), and the prices were really great (albeit, weird), but the customer service smells like a dead trout in a lime-green pinto with locked doors and closed windows in a full-sun parking lot in Arizona in August.
Here's the best part of this story:
A mere 3 days later -or there abouts- I was checking my e-mail and noticed I had received an e-mail from the shlubs at Rt. 66. Here's what it said:
"I was just shooting you an e-mail to keep in touch to see if you had any more thoughts or questions about your reception here at the hotel? I'm still waiting on a good night for the food tasting hopefully it will be within the next few weeks. So if you could e-mail me back I was trying to gauge your over all interest. Thank you for your time, and I look forward to hearing out of you shortly."I look forward to hearing out of you shortly.
Because you were so responsive every time we called that I will most surely do everything in my power to e-mail you right back you silly little slug. Needless to say, the only quick reply this hotel will ever get out of us is a quick one-finger salute as we speed by to a perfect reception venue.
I'll be back tomorrow with even bigger news on a total theme overhaul. Until then, check out our cross-dressing cat. He loves wearing my shoes. He seriously does this all the time, and carries them away. These shoes are never where I leave them when I go to put them on again.

Until tomorrow, have a lovely evening!
